Gold Coast Airport is committed to providing facilities that promote accessibility for all members of the community, including passengers and visitors with a disability. The single level terminal building boasts every modern convenience for passengers and visitors to ensure your time in our airport is as hassle-free and enjoyable as possible.

Please tell your airline or travel agent when making your reservation if you have a disability or accessibility requirements and the assistance you will require. This will enable the airline to inform you and where required, make suitable arrangements at the airport or during the flight to assist you. Please ensure you allow plenty of time before your flight to arrive at the airport.

Accessible parking spaces are clearly marked and are located in all public car parks at Gold Coast Airport. These are reserved for passengers with cars displaying a valid disability parking permit. Kerbside rampways are provided to assist people moving from car parks and the street to the sidewalk into the terminal building.

  • The airport has a number of accessible toilet amenities along with brail signage to these facilities for the vision-impaired.
  • Wheelchairs are available upon request from individual airlines. Please see the friendly staff located at the terminal should you require assistance.
  • To assist our hearing impaired passengers and visitors, a hearing loop has been installed in the terminal.

All travellers are legally required to undergo the same level of security checks. Please advise security staff if you require special assistance. If you use a wheelchair or other form of mobility assistance device, security will scan you with a hand-held detector or conduct a physical search with your consent. There is a privacy room, should you request this.

Gold Coast Airport wants to ensure that customers are able to travel as comfortably and hassle-free as possible, including passengers and guests with a disability. An Accessibility Guide has been produced for Gold Coast Airport and details the services and facilities available for our passengers with accessibility requirements.

Gold Coast Airport’s AmbassaPAW Programme engages volunteer therapy dogs to help alleviate the stress often associated with travelling.

You will find our friendly therapy dogs spreading smiles throughout the terminal.

Feel free to stop in for a cuddle with the furriest members of our GCA Ambassador Team.

Flying with children doesn’t need to be stressful, even if it’s just you and your little ones. Below are some handy hints to make sure your journey is an easy one.

Some airlines have special child, toddler and baby meals available which can be requested at the time of reservation, other airlines serve limited in-flight meals. It’s best to make sure you are well prepared with appropriate food and drink packed for the trip. Carry biscuits, water, juice & snacks for your kids. All are available at the stores in the retail area of the terminal.

Toilets with dedicated parents’ rooms are available throughout the airport – both in the Check-in and Departures halls.

Make sure you allow plenty of time to arrive at the boarding gate particularly when travelling on international flights. If you have time on your side your whole party will be stress free which will rub off on your children – happy children equals happy parents! If travelling with infants and young children, you will be invited to board the aircraft before other passengers whenever possible.

During takeoff and landing you must nurse your baby. Your baby or young child may cry on take-off and landing due to the brief ‘popping’ in their ears as cabin pressure adjusts to altitude. This is perfectly normal. By giving your baby a bottle or breastfeeding at this time, you will help to relieve the ‘popping’ sensation. For older children and for yourself, the ‘popping’ can be simply alleviated by chewing on a toffee or sweet.
